How to share your Testimony in 2 minutes

Friends talking and sharing testimony

Did you know that you can give anyone solid proof that God is real? Without studying a lot facts or memorizing some fancy Apologetic arguments.

Just share your testimony.

What God has done in your life, to bring you to salvation in Jesus, is proof not only that He exists, but also that He loves us, and that He wants to have a personal relationship with us. And it is a story that no one can argue with, because it is a real experience that happened to you.

Sharing your salvation testimony can be a powerful tool to reach people with the Good News of Jesus Christ.
Yet a lot of us find it difficult to share. So let me show you a simple way of how to share your testimony in conversation, giving you the chance to show someone the Way to Everlasting Life.

1. Permission

When striking up conversation with someone, ask: “What is the greatest thing that has ever happened to you?”
Then after listening and responding, simply ask: “Can I tell you about the greatest thing that has ever happened in my life?”

2. BC “Before Christ”

Then start sharing by describing your life before Christ. What did Jesus save you from?  You can try to identify with the person you are sharing with. For example: were you also an atheist / caught in fear / something else?

3. TP “Turning Point”

Now, share the point where you heard the Good News of Jesus and how you responded. It is helpful to share a short summary of the gospel as it was presented to you: God loves us, we are sinners, Jesus died in our place & rose again and by placing your faith in Him as Lord and Saviour, you received forgiveness of sins, and became a New Creation.

4. After Jesus

Share how your life has been changed and the good things that God has done in your life till now.

5. Summary

Share a one sentence summary: “If I haven’t met Christ, my life would still be….”

6. Permission

Now ask: “Would you like to know more about how Jesus can come and change your life like this?”

7. ABC

All of this need only take a minute or two of your time, and now, if someone responds positively you have the wonderful opportunity to lead them to Jesus. Simply lead them through the ABC:

  • Admit to being a sinner, in need of a Saviour.
  • Believe that Jesus is Lord, that He came to earth, lived, died in our place, and was resurrected.
  • Confess Him as Lord of your life.
